Beyond the bones and the very dust of bones and the wind that would come to blow the dust away

dress ~ Poizen Industries / bird skull necklace ~ Fashionology / tights ~ Pamela Mann (Back Street)
bracelets ~ Poizen Ind. + H&M mens / shoes & cardigan ~second hand

I never really had a major skull phase during my stormiest teenage years, so I took some of that back with this slight overdose of that certain anatomical bone formation. The skulls were pretty much hidden in lace and beads so it didn't feel like too much. :) I was mostly home working with my sketchpad, so I kept the outfit pretty casual. The shoes were a cheat though, there's no way in hell I'd use these heels in the icy skull-cracking roads that still lurk behind my doorstep!

I got the top with a gift card I received for modelling for Poizen and other brands last month. "Will work for clothes" seems to be a modelling motto of mine, hehe! There's been a couple of lovely catalogue photoshoots lately, I'll try to fish the photos and make a post about them soon! Especially about some of the Vixxsin prints in this collection, since believe it or not, they were born from the lines that I drew. ♥

But that is a matter of another post, now I'll just wish you all a good night!

Miss Windy Shop giveaway winner!

*dramatic drum roll*

..Lady Luck's favourite girl this time is P! Congrats!
You have something special waiting for you in your email box. :)

The winner was drawn by random.org (though it would've been much more fun to draw the name out of the hat, like I used to do, but there were simply too many names for that!). Thank you all so much for participating, I've really enjoyed listening to all those different love songs! I even found a couple of new favourites to spin on my playlist. ♥

Some of you asked about my own most beloved love song, but the truth is I don't have just one. There's a special song for every love related occasion and the whole spectrum of feelings that love creates, both tragic and heart warming. At this precise moment I'm in the mood for this song, so I'll just put it up here!:

Black candles burning

Some decór details I really enjoy in our small home at the moment:

♥ Black candles on thrifted silver plates and candle holders. Black candles just never lose their charm, they don't glow in the same way as their white sisters but their coolness level goes to eleven. Nothing bad about a lil' black metal vibe going on in this house, at least I don't burn them on skulls. ;)

♥ Bell jars. They always remind me of sweet Sylvia Plath. The one with the wilted rose I've mentioned earlier, it's from flea market, and the other two are new finds from the sale basket. I was so glad to stumble upon them by mistake since I've been looking for these for ages. I think I'm going to conjure up something floral and macabre inside of them, we'll see!

♥ Silver frames to cover empty spots on the wall and to cradle some commission art works. Will you believe me if I say they were 1€ each on discount? I very rarely get a frenzy on material things, but I can say that the three in the picture weren't the only ones I dragged home..

♥ Little doe deerling, the guardian of the sacred tea cup forest. Quite an old flea market purchase, but worthy of mentioning in this blog entry! She brings a smile on my face when I reach for a cup in the misty hours of the morning, including today. :)

The Sun to me is dark, and silent as the Moon

To describe my feelings right now I could say this: it seems that the rays of the sun, both mental and the ones that shine on this planet, are making their way through the cracks in my life, beaming their blinding light and warmth on everything. I just feel so happy! There's many great reasons for this state although I believe that true happiness doesn't really need any reasons, it beams from within. Despite the busy days I feel really calm, energetic and creative. I even got the Sun card from my Tarot pack this morning, spot-on! It shone beautifully throughout the day.

Your favourite love songs have been echoing in my ears, I intend to listen each and every one of them. It's so nice to see how different songs you like, thank you for sharing them with me! Even some of my own favourites popped up a few times.

And something else from the music front: I can't believe Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds is finally coming to Finland this year! Oooh how I need to get a ticket to the show. After the news I've been frequently listening to his work. Here's some of my fav songs from the wicked master of murder ballads, Spell also being one of the top love songs for me. :)

Secretary dress + Miss Windy Shop giveaway!

*sponsored post*

I received a mysterious pink package in the colour of sweet cotton candy, but the contents of the wrappings were even sweeter. This stunning Secretary dress by Bettie Page Clothing was a gift from Miss Windy Shop, thank you so much! ♥  I find the dress quite dreamy, it hugs the figure and emphasizes the waist just the way I like it. I've been looking for a new black dress, simple but with a certain twist, to match everyday challenges and my style, and this one filled the gap wonderfully. The dress lies more in the vintage realm but it's easy to goth it up, depending on the way I choose to accessorize it.

The dress makes me want to click away on an old typing machine, paint my nails in slow motion and wear cat eye spectacles just for the fun of it. Too bad I don't have those!

And here's a little treat for you lovelies! Miss Windy Shop is a fairly new Finnish web shop that specializes on feminine pin-up gear for all shapes and sizes, and Miss Windy wished to arrange a giveaway for my readers. So here's how it goes!:

. The giveaway is open for all my readers, also international ones! You don't necessarily need to be my follower through Blogger to participate, although I'd appreciate that since you're obviously reading this. ;)
. You can enter the giveaway by leaving me a comment in this post. Simple as that! Just remember to add your email address so that I can get in touch with you!
♥. Last time I held a giveaway I asked for your favourite quotations, but now I'd love to hear what's your favourite love song, if you have one. This part isn't mandatory, I'm just being curious.
. You've got exactly one week to participate before Lady Luck draws the winner. The giveaway ends on 29.1.2013, be sure to participate before that!

And you all must be wondering what the shining prize is?

A gift card to the shop, value of 60€! There's also some discounts going on in the shop, only today.

Madness Returns Concept Art Book

I thought I might show you the new books a little closer, they have some truly gorgeous art embedded in them and inspiration is always a good thing to spread! So here's some glimpses into the Art of Alice: Madness Returns. More graphics can be seen in the old post I did about the game itself: *click*

I think I'll slip into the virtual Wonderland for a little while tonight, my spider sense was right about the flu and my head can't really wrap around more important things right now. So PS3 it is! I wish you all a wonder(land)ful Saturday!

Frankenweenie!

Today's outfit with a woollen dress and kitschy bone hair clips, nothing extravagant since I only left home for some grocery shopping. The bone clips are icky and fun at the same time, sometimes a healthy dose of kitsch is needed. At least when it makes me feel like a cartoon character.

Judging from the way my head blurs and how my nose resembles a miniature waterfall, I think the flu germs are digging their way into my healthy parts. My spider sense says that the next few days will most probably include a lot of movies, dwelling in the dreamland and gallons of hot blackcurrant elixir, but I don't complain! After so many industrious days I welcome the flu as a healthy pause. I just hope the pause will pass quickly and not linger on for weeks..

I wore the bone clips also last night when we checked out Frankenweenie with a couple of friends. I've been waiting for this animation for over two years, and I'm glad it turned out to be so goood! I love Burton's work to death but honestly, some of his recent films haven't even nearly reached the former glory of his golden days of deep characters and bad (=awesome) special effects.

Stop motion animation however has never disappointed me in the slightest. Frankenweenie was such a beautiful wonder work of puppet art, filled with little hints to old horror classics. Mr Whiskers, my favourite character, is a little legend already. I mean who could resist a fluffy, psychic cat whose droppings are interpreted as omens? Legendary, says I.

Kudos to the choice of featuring the film in black and white, it created just the right atmosphere and feeling of the 1984's version. If you haven't checked out the original version, I strongly recommend it! In the video below are both of Burton's older films, the first one is my all-time favourite animation, Vincent. I'm sure most of you have seen both of them, but for those who haven't, I truly hope you'll enjoy them! ♥
