"There's a storm coming, Mr.Wayne"

Mentiin perjantaina miesporukalla tiiraamaan Batman-sarjan uusinta tulokasta, ja huh miten hyvä lisäys sarjaan se olikaan. Parhaana Batman-elokuvana pidän edelleen Burtonin Batman Returns-klassikkoa, muun muassa kotoisan gootikkaan kuoren, nostalgian ja mahtavan hahmogalleriansa vuoksi, mutta tämä elokuva oli loistava! Kuten Nolanin lepakkotrilogian edellisetkin osat.

Ehdin jo narista kavereille siitä miten kukaan ei koskaan/ikinä/milloinkaan voi voittaa Michelle Pfeifferin kehräävän karismaattista tulkintaa Catwomanista, mutta yllätyin todella Anne Hathawayn esityksen viehkeydestä. Elokuvan ainoina miinuksina mainittakoon pari pientä juonenkäännettä sekä jatkuva toimintatykitys ja erikoistehosteiden vapauttaminen elokuvan jokaiseen solukkoon, mutta tämä on nykyajan leffoissa jo miltei sääntönä. Sielua kuitenkin löytyi tarpeeksi ja nautin elämyksestä täysin sydämin ja hikisin kämmenin viimeiseen minuuttiin asti. Viimeisestä minuutista nautinkin ihan eniten, mutta ei siitä mitään spoilereita. ;)

En pukeutunut ihan sentään kissanaisen vartaloanuolevaan pvc-asuun (hoo, vaikka olisin kieltämättä halunnut!) mutta asu nojasi edes pienesti elokuvan suuntaan. Mies nimittäin kutsuu mua kummallisella hellittelynimellä Gotham eli goottikinkku silloin kun jalasta löytyy verkkosukkikset. Ja voihan tuon keskisormen lepakkotatskan halutessaan nähdä pienenä kunnianosoituksena yön synkeälle ritarille. Oletteko käyneet jo katsomassa leffan, mitä piditte?

On Friday we went to the Batman premiere with a bunch of guys, and oh how good the newest addition to the series was. I still hold Batman Returns on a pedestal, for the sake of nostalgy, unforgettable characters and the overall gothic feel to name a few things, but the Dark Knight Rises was great. Like all the previous parts of Nolan's trilogy.

I was a bit prejudiced about Anne Hathaway playing the Catwoman, but I had to swallow my complaints when I saw her act. Michelle Pfeiffer will always be the one true Catwoman purring in my heart, but Anne was very feline and dangerous, just the way Catwoman should be. If there's any complaints about the movie, it would be about a couple of small plot twists and the massive use of special effects and exploding action scenes, the disease that has infected most of the cells of modern movies. But still, the film was gorgeous and held my palms sweaty to the last minute, and the last minute was best of all, I can tell you. No spoilers here though. ;)

I didn't dress up in a glossy catsuit (though I must admit that I would've liked that, heehee!) but there was some little tributes in the outfit. My love calls me by the nickname of Gotham (goth-ham) whenever I use fishnet stockings, and the little bat tattoo in my finger could be seen as a tribute to the Dark Knight. Have you seen the film, and did you enjoy it?

My lust for crafts is on fire again, here's the first victim of my latest sessions! I've wanted to spike these platform shoes for a long time, and I'm so glad that I finally had the courage to gut them. It's certainly not the freshest of DIY ideas but who cares, and besides, sticking studs through different things is a good substitute for a voodoo doll. ;) And these are also pretty good weapons in case you're walking home alone at night!

Rock, Rauha + Roller Derby!

Huh, on ollut sen verran derbyntäyteinen viikko ettei mieli ole paljon muualle ehtinyt harhailla! Loppukeväästä napsaistiin koulun studiolla Rolling Roguesin profiilikuvat (kiitokset ystävälle kuvaamisesta!), ja nyt puran hieman oman session antia bloginkin puolelle. Muilla koululaisilla oli varmaan vähän ihmeteltävää kun parikymmentä neitosta rullaa käytävillä ja kohentaa tukkaa ja maskiaan vessan peilien edessä, osalla kun valui tekoverta naamalla ja muuta yhtä ihanan hempeää. :D Omassa lookissa luukorut ja Ouija-paita povasivat pelihahmon nimen puoleen, muuten look lipsahti hieman deathrockin puolelle mutta kalmaisuus on vaan plussaa. Niin hahmon kuin lajinkin kannalta.

Kiireestä voi rakkaudella syyttää allanäkyvää tapahtumaa, kaikki Ilorockiin eksyväthän eksyy myös tänne paikalle, tämä on lempeä käsky! ;) Tapahtuma on ilmainen ja kaikki ovat tervetulleita katsomaan, jännittää jo niin ettei paikallaan meinaa pysyä vaikken itse edes pelaa tällä kertaa. Mut voi löytää pistelaskennasta mikä on eittämättä vielä suurempi katastrofi, en osaa laskea edes kahvinpuruja oikein kun keitän kahvia.. Mutta toivottavasti nähdään täällä! Ja mahtavaa viikonloppua kaikille, missä tahansa olettekin!

This week has been so filled with roller derby business that I've hardly had any time to focus on other things! I decided to share these player profile pics now that I got them, these were taken in the end of spring by a friend of mine (thank you!). We conquered our school's studio and I bet the other students were a bit dazzled about the twenty ladies skating in the corridors and painting their faces in the restrooms. Especially when some of us had artificial blood, guts and other sweet things dripping on their faces. :D My look included bone jewelry and Ouija-shirt, and the look slipped on the deathrock department but everything death-related is ok with my character. And the whole sports.

And the reason behind my busy week is in the bottom pic! There's this big rock festival in our town tomorrow, and we're having a show bout there, including players from many different teams. I'm so damn excited and anxious although I don't even play this time, I'm counting the points and that's even worse. I can't even count the coffee grounds right while making coffee..:D But I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun! I hope you all have a magnificent weekend, wherever you are!

The Greenhouse Effect

Ennen kotijunaan valumista oli pakko käydä kierroksella Kaisaniemen kasvitieteellisessä puutarhassa ja lasimajoissa. Reissuille kerää helposti erilaisia missioita ja unohtaa vielä helpommin toteuttaa ne (päässäni on ammottavia reikiä, ei voi mitään), mutta vihdoin muistin käydä ihastelemassa puutarhan kasviloistoa! Tällaisissa paikoissa tuntuu kuin olisi sisällä Jane Austenin kirjoissa tai Ihmemaan kuningattaren puutarhassa krokettipelin parissa, kurkkimassa kukkapuskien alle valkoisen kaniinin toivossa.

Luulin että ulkona oli ihan tarpeeksi tuskallisen kuumaa, mutta lasitalon sademetsähuoneessa toivoin jo olevani vaihtolämpöinen. Liskogeenejä tänne, kiitos! Kirppikseltä kahlattu puuvillainen kesämekko viilensi tukaluutta edes vähän, mutta kellohelmat ja pääkaupungin tuulisuus ei ole mikään ihan paras yhdistelmä. :D Villi tuuli yritti tempaista helmaa jatkuvasti korviin ja ainakin vastaantulijoilla oli luultavasti hauskaa. Ja kieltämättä mullakin, itselleen nauraminen on jalo taito.

I simply love gardens and flowers, and Kaisaniemi Botanical Garden might be worth a visit if you're ever around Helsinki. I went there on a sunny day before reluctantly climbing into train and back to my hometown. It's been a mission of mine to visit the garden for quite a long while and finally remembered to do so (my head is usually full of holes, no can do). Places like these make you feel like you're in a Jane Austen book or Red Queen's croquet ground, peeking under flower bushes to get a glimpse of the White Rabbit.

I thought that the heat outside was excruciating enough, but the rain forest room in the glass house made me wish I was poikilothermic. The light-toned, thrifted dress eased the heat a bit, but a bell-shaped hem and wild winds aren't the most ideal combination. :D At least the people around me were having fun with that. And me too, it's always good to be able to laugh at yourself.
